My dad just sent me a really cool electron microscope image of a wood or heathland ant (formica fusca) carrying a microchip.
The longer I looked at it, the more the question came… what is an ant doing with a microchip?

The only answer I could come up with was based on the type of ant it was, a heathland ant. Some of you may remember the old Heathkit company that made do-it-yourself electronic kits for radio, computer and other assorted electronic projects. Well, since it is a ”heath”land ant, perhaps he is putting together an atom processor-based computer (“atom ant,” get it? — if you’re younger than 40, you may not!)
