Years ago I was a nerd. It seems that I’ve graduated. Now I’m a geek.

Back in the 90′s I had a graphic design operation and I was introduced to the world of Apple computers. Having been on the cutting edge of the computer “revolution” in the late 70′s and the 80′s, I could disassemble and reassemble PC’s like a soldier could field strip his weapon. I could even “soup up” a venerable Commodore 64. When I got my hands on my first Mac in 1991, it was love at first sight!

The discovery that computer “work” could actually be fun was one of those life-changing revelations.

As the years progressed and life went on, I was forced back into the world of “normal” computers and the dark empire of Windows. It became work again.

A few years ago, in the face of what seemed unreasonable, I purchased a Macbook to replace a dying laptop. I’d rediscovered computer Nirvana!

A year ago I replaced that Macbook with a Macbook Pro. The smile on my face grew into a grin.

I’d jumped on the iPhone hoopla several years ago and my life hasn’t been the same since. When I realized that my iPhone and my Macbook could talk to each other, that grin grew into a full-blown laugh. I harbored a secret desire to convert all our office computers to Macs, knowing that I could control my little business empire from anywhere in the world through a little hand-held device that could even be used to make phone calls.

Then came the iPad. (I get sweaty palms just thinking about it…)

My life has graduated to a new level of existence. I’ve donned cap and gown, I’ve walked across the stage, I have my diploma in hand. I’ve become a full-fledged geek.

Last week we even purchased an iMac to replace an aging dinosaur computer in the office.

Next, conquest of the entire world!
