I never cease to be amazed at the power of an itty, bitty, tiny word of encouragement.

Admittedly, I’m not as good at it as I should be. I’m honestly trying to make myself more aware of it so I can do better.

Especially after last night.

I gave the smallest of exhortation to three folks last night and, honestly, thought nothing more about it.

Until this morning.

Two text messages and one email later, I was on the verge of tears. The most remarkable things occurred as a result of what I would have classified as “nothing.” I’d spoken to three individuals, who, in turn, had been motivated to act on what they may not have done had I not spoken into them. Now two other individuals who I don’t even know have been radically blessed and one of the three has stepped up to a new level of service.

Incredible.

With each of you we were like a father with his child, holding your hand, whispering encouragement, showing you step-by-step how to live well before God, who called us into his own kingdom, into this delightful life. –1 Thessalonians 2:9
