i went to a restaurant here in Brazil over the weekend that had what they called a “traditional Brazilian coffee.” A traditional Brazil afternoon coffee would serve as a full meal in anyone’s book.
I remember being invited over for “afternoon coffee” at an acquaintance’s home back in the 80′s while living in Brazil. The table was loaded down with what I’d call breakfast foods, juices and, of course, coffee. I couldn’t eat for the next two days!
This local restaurant had the same kind of spread, but on steroids! I’ve never seen a breakfast buffet in the US that could even come close to rivaling this! I counted 12 different kinds of cake, 9 casseroles, 6 kinds of meat, 5 kinds of bread, 8 different, freshly squeezed juices, 6 pies and who knows how many appetizers, cheeses, spreads, honeys, fruits and things I didn’t even know what they were!
And of course they had real, country style, brewed on wood burning stoves, genuine Brazilian coffee.
Yes, I did my best to eat some of it all! This will rank as one of my top 10 eating experiences of my life!
Mercy!
