I went to a movie on a whim last night.

No big deal… except it was a 3-D movie and I was very impressed! It even had a pre-movie cartoon just like the movies always had when I was a kid. With the big ol’ 3-D glasses on, I was responding just like a kid, too: “Wow!,” “Look at that!” “Whoa!” “Cool!”

The movie was called “Rio” and was one of those animated deals that almost look real but is really just a cartoon. The kicker that drew us in was the fact that it had a Brazilian connection; that just made it more fun than it otherwise would have been.

A blue macau that can’t fly, in Rio, during Carnaval, a villainous cockatoo and an orphan kid named Fernando wearing a Pele jersey made it a fun, entertaining movie.

Throw in the 3-D experience and of course the popcorn — I had a blast last night!

I highly recommend it.
